Sakamoto Motoyuki, né en 1950 à Tokyo, a d'abord suivi une formation en design industriel à l'école secondaire Ikuei. Il a débuté sa carrière en tant que designer automobile chez Nissan Motor Corporation.

Dans un second temps, il s'est tourné vers la poterie, devenant indépendant en 1974. Sakamoto s'est distingué dans l'art céramique par ses œuvres mettant l'accent sur la technique de l'incrustation et la création de formes originales.

Ses pièces ont été sélectionnées pour des expositions prestigieuses telles que l'Exposition d'Artisanat Traditionnel Japonais, l'Exposition d'Art Céramique du Japon, et l'Exposition Internationale de Faenza. Membre à part entière de l'Association Kogei du Japon, il a exposé ses œuvres dans divers lieux renommés comme Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Tokyo Pottery Exhibition, Mitsukoshi, Matsuzakaya, et dans des galeries à Ginza, ainsi qu'à l'international, notamment à la galerie Dai Ichi Arts à New York.

En dehors de son activité artistique, Sakamoto a également écrit un livre intitulé "The Rich Table of Mr. Diabetes S" (Bunshun Bunko), témoignant de ses intérêts variés.

Sakamoto Motoyuki, born in 1950 in Tokyo, initially trained in industrial design at Ikuei High School. He began his career as an automobile designer at Nissan Motor Corporation.

He later turned to pottery, becoming independent in 1974. Sakamoto distinguished himself in ceramic art with works emphasizing the inlay technique and the creation of original forms.

His pieces have been selected for prestigious exhibitions such as the Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition, the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the International Faenza Exhibition. A full member of the Kogei Association of Japan, he has exhibited his work at various renowned venues, including Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Tokyo Pottery Exhibition, Mitsukoshi, Matsuzakaya, and galleries in Ginza, as well as internationally, including at the Dai Ichi Arts Gallery in New York.

Aside from his artistic endeavors, Sakamoto has also written a book entitled "The Rich Table of Mr. Diabetes S" (Bunshun Bunko), reflecting his varied interests.
